Course objectives
For more than 25 years, implant esthetics is a dominating topic in implant dentistry for partially edentulous patients. In the anterior maxilla, the rehabilitation of patients with implant supported single crowns or FPDs is challenging for involved clinicians due to the high esthetic demand by the patients and difficult anatomical situations with bone and/or soft tissue deficiencies, which are often present in the esthetic zone. These defects are more often seen today, since implant placement post-extraction dominates daily practice. This interactive 3-day Esthetic Master Course (EMC) has been established in 2001 in close collaboration with Urs Belser (University of Geneva) for experienced colleagues in implant dentistry. The EMC has been constantly adapted and improved over the years including new surgical or reconstructive techniques, new technologies or dental materials. After more than 20 years as prosthetic course director, Urs Belser has decided to step down from this role and to pass over the responsibility to Manrique Fonseca (University of Bern). We are delighted, however, that Urs Belser will present one lecture as a guest speaker on Day 3 of the up-coming EMC.
In addition, it is a great pleasure to have Sascha Jovanovic (Los Angeles) for the first time as Guest Speaker on the program together with the other world-famous guest speakers with Stephen Chen (University of Melbourne), Ronald Jung (University of Zurich), and Irena Sailer & Vincent Fehmer (University of Geneva). Together with the local speakers from the University of Bern, the superb faculty will comprehensively present the treatment concepts for the handling of single tooth gaps and extended edentulous spaces in the anterior maxilla. These concepts have been developed over the past 25 years providing successful outcomes with high predictability and a low risk for complications. All relevant aspects of treatment planning, step-by-step surgical procedures, and prosthetic rehabilitation with first provisional and subsequently definitive restorations will be presented and discussed in 18 lectures. This includes the biologic basis for current surgical and prosthetic procedures, as well as the latest developments in the field of digital implant dentistry and dental materials. In addition, we will also present the new TLC implant as part of the new iExcel implant system by Straumann, which is a so-called Double Hybrid Implant. The TLC is an improved BLT implant by Straumann.
The surgical approaches in post-extraction implant placement and bone augmentation procedures with the GBR technique will be presented with 3 live surgeries.
In addition, 3 hands-on workshops (digital planning, surgical and prosthetic procedures) complement the master course for on-site participants.
The EMC will be offered again with a hybrid set-up. That means that participants can attend on-site in Bern or they can attend via a high-quality streaming, live and on-demand for at least 3 months.
